Marauder Women's Volleyball fell 2-3 to LA Mission in their first home match of the season on Wednesday.
After dropping the first two sets 17-25 and 20-25, AVC brought more energy to open the third set. Led by Kassie Tejeda's 5 kills, they continued to play inspired, winning the third set 25-22 and the fourth set 25-19.
Tied 2-2, the Marauders battled hard but couldn't overcome an early deficit in the fifth and deciding set. Tejeda finished with a team-high 11 kills, followed by Maggie Rafferty, who had 9 kills.
Alaura Bengle and Alysa Hughbanks each had 7 kills. Rafferty led AVC in digs with 6, while Audrey Shull had 5 digs. Hughbanks also had 3 digs and 4 aces.
Rhiannon Romero led the Marauders with 25 assists, while Vanessa Fletes recorder 17 assists.
The Marauders are now 0-2 and will take on West Coast Baptist University next in a doubleheader on Monday, September 27th.
