LANCASTER - If you would have watched the Marauder women's volleyball team play the first two sets against West LA College, you might have thought that it could compete for a Western State Conference title.
But that was the first two sets.
And despite falling asleep the following two sets and getting down early in the fifth, AVC found a way to find victory with a thrilling 25-17, 25-18, 13-25, 12-25, 15-12 victory over the visiting Wildcats, Wednesday evening at Marauder Gymnasium.
"A win's a win no matter how you look at it," AVC's Tiffany Matchett said.
Matchett finished with a match-high 23 kills including a kill in the fifth set to end the match.
AVC trailed 9-6 in the fifth set after losing sets three and four rather convincing. It seemed as though West LA was on its way to a come-from-behind victory, however, the Marauders rallied and took a 13-9 lead en route to the victory.
Asia De Vera finished with 22 assists and Bella Bradford added 13 assists and six kills.
