LANCASTER - The Marauder women's volleyball team suffered a major setback right before the start of conference after being defeated handily by Citrus College, 31-29, 25-18, 25-19, Monday evening at Marauder Gymnasium.
The loss snapped a 3-match winning streak by AVC (3-6), which lost its first five matches of the season. But is was a tough loss for the Marauders as they lost to a Citrus (2-14) team that had only won one match in 15 this season.
"We didn't play well. We made too many errors tonight," AVC head coach Mark Cruz said. "I'm hoping to regroup as soon as possible and get things ready before we start conference on Friday."
Tiffany Matchett led the Marauders with 13 kills and teammate Asia DeVera added 12 assists.
The match was a rescheduled match from last Wednesday after the campus was on lockdown due to the shooting death of Sgt. Steve Owen.
AVC travels to San Luis Obispo on Wednesday to face Cuesta College, its final preseason match before it hosts LA Mission College in the conference opener on Friday.
