THEOLOGIDY ADVANCES IN STEEPLECHASE, DUNCAN MOVES ON IN 400
CERRITOS - Mariah Theologidy and Jasmane Duncan both advanced to next week's So. Cal Finals after impressive performances, Saturday afternoon in the So. Cal Prelims held at Cerritos College.
Theologidy is ranked No. 3 in the 3000 Steeplechase and finished second in her heat with a time of 11:36.13, just behind College of the Canyons' Diani Ellis (11:34.36). Glendale College's Angelica Salas had the overall best time of 11:28.25. No other runner in either heat broke the 11:30.00 mark.
Duncan finished second in her heat, crossing the line in 58.02, behind Alexis Henry of West Los Angeles College, who should be the favorite entering next week's finals, after she blew away the field in 56.17. Still Duncan had the third fastest time of the afternoon and most certainly will draw a good lane for the final.
Robyn Webb was the other qualifier for the prelims but failed to moved on in both the hammer throw and the shot put. She finished eighth and 13th respectively in both events.
