GONZALEZ FINISHES SECOND IN 5000 AT GLENDALE
GLENDALE - Jasmane Duncan is yet to be tested in the 400 this season.
Once again Duncan won the 400 in 59.78, nearly two seconds ahead of her nearest competitor Saturday at the Vaquero Classic at Glendale College.
Duncan later competed in the 200 and finished fifth crossing the line in 26.21. Sierra Peterson, who also won the 100 in 12.07, claimed the 200 victory in 24.94.
Carolina Gonzalez had one of her better races of the year in the 5000 to finish second (19:21.82). Cross country All-American, Giselle Masedo of Glendale, won the race blowing away the field in 18:21.52.
Freshman phenom Mariah Theologidy, who has been sidelined much of the track season, was fourth in the 3000 steeplechase (11:47.84). The women's 4x100 meter relay team (Duncan, Jailene Martinez, Cherice Thomas and Destiny Ventura) was third behind El Camino and Bakersfield in 51.00.
Robyn Webb continued to be consistent in the field events as she finished second in the hammer throw (120-11), fifth in both the shot put (32-00.00) and discus (96-02). Anna-Helene Augusta was third in the hammer (117-03) and seventh in the discus (90-05.50).
