RIDGECREST - Rielly Rasmussen, Makenzie Averill and Lynette Diaz each scored two goals to lead the Marauder women's soccer team to an easy 9-0 victory over Cerro Coso College, Friday evening in Ridgecrest.
It didn't take long for AVC (1-0) to get rolling and once it did it didn't shut down as the Marauders led 7-0 at halftime.
"I thought that we came out and played very strong in the first half. In the second half we came out even stronger and we possessed the ball really well," Rasmussen said. "There's always more we can do to improve, but I'm proud of my team in our first game. I think this team will be better than last year. We are focused and we want it."
Jeannette Bogarin, Cindy Martin and Vivian Jauregi each added a goal for the Marauders. Averill added four assists, tying a Marauder record equaling Stephanie Kneifl at Mt. San Jacinto 10-14-03 and by Lindsay Giampietro vs. Desert 10-4-02. Rasmussen had a helper of her own.
The nine assists in the game tied a Marauder record with 9 vs. Desert, 10-4-02 and at San Bernardino Valley, 11-1-02 and at Desert, 10-3-03.
