OXNARD - Sniper Mackenzie Broderick was at it again helping the Marauder women's soccer team finish off an impressive weekend as it defeated Sacramento City College, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in the Oxnard Tournament.
The Marauders (3-1-1) finished off their weekend with two wins over Cerro Coso and Sacramento City College, with a tie against College of the Sequoias sandwiched in the middle on Saturday.
Broderick, who scored two goals on Friday and three on Saturday, scored the lone goal of the game and her sixth of the season with 55:00 of the second half.
"I'm proud of the girls. They have been working real hard. We just have to continue to move forward one game at a time," AVC first-year head coach Charles Gordon said. "We just look to improve daily. We learned a lot of valuable lessons in our first game. I think the girls are gaining confidence daily. They believe in the system."
After an opening season loss the L.A. Pierce College, the Marauders have won 3-of-4 games with a tie. AVC only won three matches all of last season.
AVC had eight shots on goal while holding the Cougars (1-3) to only two.
