DORMAN LEADS MARAUDERS WITH 86 AT SAN DIMAS CANYON COURSE
Freshman Makayla Dorman led AVC Women's Golf with an 86, good for 7th in the conference on the day at San Dimas Canyon.
The course is one of the more challenging we will see all year with out-of-bounds and water hazards in play on 13 of the 18 holes. Outstanding Freshman Makayla Dorman led the way with an 86, good for 7th in the conference on the day and could have been few lower as multiple birdie opportunities just missed. Makayla's season average remains Top 10 in the conference. Scarleth Pleitez shot 102 after experiencing a couple of tough breaks, one of which for being penalized for hitting the wrong golf ball, which matched the brand, number, and blue mark of her own. This Penalty was called on herself by Scarleth, highlighting the integrity associated with playing the game successfully.
Melody Garcia and Chloë Riviere both followed up with solid performances, which helped the team maintain it's overall 3rd in conference position, ahead of Moorpark, Bakersfield, and Citrus. "I'm proud of the way the way the girls battled today on a challenging course." said coach Londono. "Some adverse scenarios presented themselves, which is to be expected in competition, and I'm happy with how the girls responded."
The Marauders will play their next round at Sand Canyon Country Club in Santa Clarita on Monday, October 21st.
