Women's Basketball finished their regular season with a 67-60 win over LA Valley College.
Before the action began, AVC honored sophomores Jadis Watson, Eriona Williams, and Sienna Rodriguez. Watson averaged 13.3 points per game throughout two seasons at AVC. She averaged 14.9 rebounds per game, including a 30-rebound performance earlier this year. Williams had an 8.8 points per game average in three seasons with the Marauders, while Rodriguez totaled 122 points and 129 rebounds in her three seasons.
Williams and Watson led the way during Friday's victory over the Monarchs. AVC outscored LA Valley 20-9 in the 1st quarter but was outscored 10-14 in the next period. With a 7-point lead at the half, AVC came out strong defensively, holding the Monarchs to just 5 points in the 3rd period while scoring 16. The Monarchs made a 4th quarter run, outscoring AVC by 11 points in the final period, but the Marauders protected the ball and made free throws to seal the win.
Williams had a game-high 19 points with 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Watson had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Kristen Lopez had 12 points to go along with a team-high 5 assists and 2 steals. Sara Heier finished with 10 points and 5 rebounds, while Sienna Rodriguez had 7 rebounds and 6 points.
