VALLEY GLEN - The Marauder women's basketball team had its chances in the final minute of the game, but it was unable to convert a dropped its third game in a row suffering a 55-53 loss at the hands of El Camino, Friday at LA Valley College.
Brieanna Perkins netted a 3-pointer with less than two minutes remaining giving AVC a 53-52 lead. The Warriors responded and took the lead 55-53 by scoring the next three points of the game.
Following a timeout after El Camino converted one of two free throws, the Marauders had a chance to tie the game, however, Perkins missed a shot as time expired preserving the victory for the Warriors.
"I was very pleased with our effort tonight," AVC head coach Barry Green said. "But finishing around the basket has to become a priority for us."
Deja Smith led the Marauders with 21 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds. Shantanel Bivens finished with a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
