SAN JACINTO - Following it first victory only a night prior, the Marauder women's basketball team struggled its final three quarters of the game against host Mt. San Jacinto College and was dismantled losing to the Eagles, 85-50, Saturday night.
Deja Smith was the lone bright spot for the Marauders (1-3) as the freshman finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals. On the young season Smith is filling up the stat sheets averaging 19 points, eight rebounds and nearly five assists per game.
AVC only trailed Mt. San Jacinto (2-0) 14-12 after the first quarter but were outscored 71-38 the final three quarters.
"We have to continue to develop our bench," AVC head coach Barry Green said. "To compete with top ten opponents our reserves must produce."
