MARAUDERS TOP CHAFFEY IN FIRST-ROUND PLAYOFF WIN

Antelope Valley College Softball will advance to the CCCAA SoCal Regionals after beating the Chaffey Panthers 6-2. AVC finished with 12 hits and no errors on the day.
The scoring started for the Marauders in the 1st inning with an RBI double from Cadence Crampton. After two scoreless innings, AVC made it 3-0 with an RBI double from Angelina Quezada and an RBI single from Natalia Hernandez. Natasha Arroyo singled to bring in Kylie Zinn in the 5th inning to put the Marauders up 4-0.
In the bottom of the 6th, Annalise Wagner added two insurance runs with her second home run of the season, a 2-RBI shot to right field.
The Panthers tried to rally in the 7th inning but were held in check by the defense and solid pitching from Helena Loera. Loera was efficient in the circle, throwing 72 of 94 pitches for strikes and striking out 6 batters.
Cadence Crampton finished 2-for-4 with 1 RBI, Natalia Hernandez went 2-for-4 with 1 RBI, and Angelina Quezada finished 2-for-2 with an RBI. Denise Carrillo (2), Kylie Zinn (1), and Jolene Miramontes (1) also recorded hits.
The win sends the Marauders to the SoCal Regionals, where they will face Fullerton College on the road in a best-of-three series starting Friday at 2:00 p.m.
