GOMEZ, ARROYO, CRONIN HOMER AS MARAUDERS SLIDE INTO CONFERENCE PLAY WITH A WIN OVER LA VALLEY

Pricilla Gomez, Maritza Arroyo, and Kaitlyn Cronin each hit home runs as the Marauders win their first conference game of the season 8-0 against the Monarchs.
AVC Softball jumped out to an early lead in the 2nd inning when Pricilla Gomez hit a solo home run, her first of the season. Gomez finished 2-3 with 1 RBI and 2 runs. The Marauders then added to the lead with a four-run inning in the 3rd. Maritza Arroyo and Kaitlyn Cronin hit back-to-back homers. The 2-RBI homer was Arroyo's second of the year, while Cronin's solo shot was her first. Arroyo finished 2-2 with 2 RBI and a run scored, and Cronin went 1-3 with 1 RBI and a run scored.
Syann Winbush added another run with an RBI single to score Savannah Moakley. Syann ended 2-3 to go along with her RBI.
Defensively, Briana Garrett kept the Monarchs down as she returned to the circle from a couple of injuries. Garrett struck out five while giving up only two hits and no walks in four innings.
AVC added three more insurance runs in the 5th inning behind Moakley, Ashley Mcirvin, and Alexa Alvarez, who all hit RBI singles. Alvarez added one to her team-leading 11 RBI and ended 2-4 with a run scored. Moakley finished 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Mcirvin, along with Nayely Delgado went 1-3 on the day. In total, Antelope Valley had 14 hits in the 5-inning contest.
The Marauders have now won three straight and will play a couple of non-conference games at Cypress before returning home to face Citrus on Tuesday at the 10th at 2:30 pm.
