AVC Softball completed their regular season play with an 8-0 win over LA Valley to go undefeated in the Western State Conference.
Before closing out the regular season, AVC Softball honored their two sophomores, Isabelle Gomez (SS) and Aricka Price (RF). Gomez will remain at AVC and join the nursing program, studying to become a pediatric nurse, while Aricka Price will transfer to Cal State Fullerton this fall, studying to become an orthopedic surgeon. Both girls have been a tremendous asset to AVC Softball and will be missed.
As play began, AVC jumped out to the early lead when Kaitlyn Cronin flied out to center scoring Isabelle Gomez. Aricka Price then reached base on a fielder's choice RBI, scoring Maritza Arroyo in the 2nd inning.
Marauders added two more in the 4th inning when Arroyo doubled to score Pricilla Gomez Lopez and Price hit a single to score Arroyo. Arroyo finished 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs, while Gomez Lopez finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs. After scoring four more in the 5th inning, AVC was up 8-0 off of 12 hits.
Aricka Price finished 1-for-2 with 2 RBIs and Jessica Munoz also went 2-for-2. Briana Garrett struck out 12 of 19 batters faced for her twenty-fourth win of the season.
AVC finished the regular season 31-9 and 14-0 in conference as they look forward to the playoffs.
