Marauders Softball has won six of their last eight as they beat Canyons 5-1 in Thursday's conference match-up. AVC scored first with two runs in the second inning behind an RBI double from Pricilla Gomez Lopez. Gomez Lopez then scored on a passed ball. The Marauders scored a couple more runs in the fourth inning when Maritza Arroyo tripled, bringing home Alyssa Tami. Arroyo then scored when Syann Winbush grounded out.
Arroyo finished 1-for-2 with one RBI, and Gomez Lopez finished 1-for-1 with one RBI. Gomez Lopez also reached base twice on walks. Isabelle Gomez, Jessica Munoz, and Kaitlyn Cronin each had a hit with Cronin also having an RBI.
Briana Garrett was dominant in the circle with 10 strikeouts. Garrett gave up just one run in the sixth inning off a single up the middle. AVC is now on top of the Western State-East Conference with victories over Canyons, Citrus, LA Mission and Victor Valley. They will face Bakersfield (5-0 conf.) on Saturday, March 16th in what promises to be a great match-up. Games start at 11:00 am at Marauders Softball Stadium.
