MARAUDER MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD SHINES ON DREARY DAY IN BAKERSFIELD
BAKERSFIELD - The conditions weren't the greatest, but the Marauder men's track and field team did more than maybe expected by finishing fourth overall in the team standings at the opening meet at Bakersfield College.
AVC was led on the track by Cameron Windham who finished first in the 200 and second in the 100. Windham clocked 23.23 and 11.41 in both events respectively. Moorpark had the next three consecutive runners finish behind Windham in the 200. Ventura's Tristan Griffith won the 100 in 11.03.
AVC's Tyrone Barnes and Imani Carrington were 1-2 in the triple jump. Barnes outleaped, 44-10.25 to win the event against Carrington's 42-06.25. Carrington was second in the long jump (20-07.25) and Barnes finished fourth (20-01.00). Carrington was also part of the 4x100 relay team alongside Kim Harrison, Windham and Kevin Farmer that finished fourth, crossing the tape in 44.68.
Harrison, Windham, Cedric Spivey and Joe Wilkerson finished fourth in the 4x400 relay (4:01.32). Spivey was also fourth in the 400 hurdles finishing in 1:07.09. Robert Moore was seventh in the same event (1:14.41) but finished third in the 110 hurdles at 17.19.
Both Samuel Aguirre and Fernando Flores were solid in their respective events. Aguirre was fourth in the 3000 steeplechase in 10:45.79 and Flores was fifth in the 3000, crossing the line in 9:38.47. Matthew Skoog finished second in the hammer (123-00).
The Marauders finished with 86 points behind Moorpark (152.50), Bakersfield (96) and College of the Canyons (92.50).
