AVC Men's Soccer recorded a 1-1 tie in their first conference match of the season against Glendale.
Both teams showed urgency in what turned out to be a fast-paced defensive battle for much of the game. There were several close calls, but neither team could put any points on the board in the first period.
Much of the second period would be the same. It wasn't until the 85th minute that the Marauders would break the shutout when Brian Lima scored an amazing goal on as assist from Alfredo Chinnery. Lima leads the Marauders with seven goals on the season.
It seemed as though AVC was headed towards a win up 1-0 with less than five minutes left to play. But a quick strike from Glendale's Daniel Meza-Gonzalez tied it up 1-1. Both teams continued to attack at an almost frantic pace in the final few minutes, but both defenses would hold solid, and the tie would stand.
The Marauders (5-4-4) will continue conference play at Bakersfield on Friday, before returning home to face Citrus on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
