MEN'S SOCCER WINS HOME OPENER, 5-1

The Antelope Valley College Men's Soccer team had their home opener today versus San Diego-Imperial Valley College.
After 3 tough away games for the Mauraders, today's match proved to be an offensive show for AVC winning in shot attempts 20-4. The Mauraders also won the possession battle 60% - 40% and was up 4 - 0 by half time.
"The best thing about today's match was I was able to get 27 athletes into the game at some point and get some experience time for the depth chart", stated Head Coach Jerry Stupar.
Goals were scored by Juan Gallardo, Cameron Taylor, Sebastian Enriquez, Jorge Ordaz, and Christipher Cortez. Joseph Perez led with 2 assists while Vince Corona, Joseph Barrientos, and Jorge Ordaz each added 1 assist. Defense led by Dylan Gonzalez and Raymond Clark minimized shot attempts by IVC and Goalkeeper Dakota Duncan (#00) has a solid performance in the net with: 1 GA / 2 saves / and 90 minutes.
The successful team play allowed the Marauders staff to limit playing time for their starting line-up, allow better rest time and preparation for heir next showing. Antelope Valley will return to the pitch on Friday to face Pasadena. Final score of the match was a 5-1 win for the Maurader, solidifying an overall record of 1-1-2 on the season.
