MEN'S SOCCER SEASON OPENER ENDS IN DRAW, 1-1
The Antelope Valley College (AVC) Men's Soccer Team surprised Powerhouse Chaffey in first preseason game of 2018 with AVC late goal tieing the match 1-1.
"It's not the typical first game team I schedule to play for an opener, as Chaffey goes to post season yearly, but it definetely lets the guys know where they stand immediately," stated Head Soccer Coach Jerry Stupar.
With possession 55%-45% going to Chaffey, the shot chart was even at AVC 8 : Chaffey 8. Goal #1 came from Chaffey #16 unassisted at 29:00 minutes in. In the second half AVC came out aggressive and more offensive and yielded the second goal of the game (Goal #2 - AVC) by #10 Rodrigo Martinez on a beautiful Cross (Assist) by #23 Andrew Mitchell to equalize the game at the 77th minute. Another shot attempt by Christian Gonzalez and Ernesto Guevera was unable to find the back of the net but shifted the attack toward Chaffey's goal.

GK #00 Dakota Duncan - 45 min / 0 GA / 2 saves
Both teams finish with a record of ( 0 - 0 - 1 ) -> AVC & Chaffey. The Marauders will travel next to Fresno to play Clovis and College of the Sequoias over Labor Day weekend.
