VICTORVILLE - The Marauder men's soccer team remained winless in conference play, but was able to manage a 1-1 tie on the road against Victor Valley College, Tuesday afternoon.
"Our shot attempts increased due to some tactical changes, but we failed to put away two game winning opportunities. I'm happy with the increase in possession in our attack, but I was more impressed with our defense allowing only one goal with two starters benched for breaking team rules," AVC head coach Jerry Stupar said. "I'm excited to play College of the Canyons at home this Friday and hope to have the same success as last season."
The Marauders (5-7-2, 0-2-1) out shot the Rams 14-6 and their goal came from Carlos Cruz at the 26-minute mark of the first half, off the assist from Jose Mojica. It was Mojica's 23rd point of the season, ranking him tied for 10th in the state.
Victor Valley (3-9-3, 1-1-1) responded midway through the second half following a goal by Silvano Gonzalez to even the score, which it remained until the final buzzer.
