OXNARD - The Marauder men's soccer team dropped a tough match to Oxnard College, 2-1, Tuesday afternoon.
The Condors (6-3-1) took a 1-0 lead only 13 minutes into the first half following a goal by Francisco Arroyo which was assisted by Luis Juarez. The Arroyo-Juarez combination hooked up again and gave Oxnard a 2-0 lead at the 66-minute mark.
The Marauders (5-5-1) finally got on the scoreboard at the 75-minute mark following an unassisted goal by Matthew Fletes cutting the lead in half.
"As a whole I thought we played really well. We just had some deficiencies in our defense. Oxnard is a good team and they capitalized on a few of our mistakes," Fletes said. "This match showed we are ready for conference playing against a top-notch team. This is a good gauge for us to compete in conference."
