PASADENA - For the first time in three seasons the Marauders men's soccer team was shut out following a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Pasadena City College, Wednesday evening in Pasadena.
The score was tied 0-0 at halftime and all the scoring came by the Lancers (1-0-1) in the second half. At 48:00 PCC's Yader Rodriguez scored an unassisted goal from about 18 yards out for the first goal of the match. About 14 minutes later at 62:00, the Lancers' David Vasquez-Mena scored a header off the assist from Satchel Robinson for a 2-0 lead.
"Overall I think we were timid against them. We didn't move together as a unit to try make a goal. We gave them too much respect," AVC defenseman Matthew Fletes said. "Although we lost it was a good experience so we know how to take it. The next time we play a team like that we know not to turn back the defense."
AVC (2-1) had six shots on goal compared to PCC's four.
