LANCASTER - The Marauder men's soccer team defeated College of the Canyons for the second time this season with a 3-2 victory over the Cougars, Tuesday afternoon at Marauder Stadium.
Jose Mojica scored the game winning goal with the score tied 2-2 at the 92nd minute mark. Earlier this season the Marauders defeated COC by the same score.
"It was the discipline of our defense that listened to the game plan at halftime to play direct out of the back (versus transition) with defending as a primary role," AVC head coach Jerry Stupar said. "We wanted to capitalize on a few opportunities that would come from COC pushing up its attack attempting to win the match. One quality counter attack was all we needed and it happened in the 92nd minute."
The Marauders led 2-0 at halftime following goals by Christian Perez and Jess Mazariego. It was Mojica's 18th goal of the season which ranks him No. 7 in the state.
