Marauder Golf's Tanner Klundt qualified for the Western State Conference SoCal Regionals after AVC competed at Las Posas Country Club in Camarillo on Monday.
Tanner shot a 73 and 80 (36 holes) and made it to Regionals as one of the top 5 individual qualifiers from his season average. In Round 1, he had the 3rd best score in the field of 48 players and hit 12 greens in regulations with two birdies. He continued hitting the ball well in the 2nd Round, hitting 13 greens but had some 3 putts resulting in the 80. Klundts combined 2-round score of 153 was the 9th-best score of the day.
"Shooting the 3rd best Round felt good at the time, but I still had another 18 holes to play, so I had to keep moving forward and not focus on how I just played," said Klundt. "Making it to regionals is a big accomplishment that I'm proud of, and I will not take that for granted," he added.
I have seen tremendous growth on and off the course, and yesterday's 2-round performance helped solidify how deserving Tanner is to represent the Western States Conference in Southern California regional play. And to accomplish this as a freshman is quite an honor." commented head coach Brad Hazard
Daniel Degeorge shot a 77 and 81, while Drew Degeorge finished with an 85 and 86 on the day. Daniel missed taking an at-large finals individual qualifying spot by 1 shot and will be the alternate.
Coach Hazard recognized Daniel's effort, saying, "He gave it a great run, and I appreciate everything he has put into the season and our program. I am excited to see what his future holds."
Regionals play is at Industry Hills Golf Course on May 8.
