AVC Men's Golf hosted Western State Conference #5 Tournament at Antelope Valley Country Club on Monday. With clear conditions, the difficult pin locations and fast greens led to a field average of 82 on the day.
The Marauders had a 16-shot improvement from their previous best team score, posting their lowest round of the season. Shooting their best score with the added pressure to produce in front of their home crowd was something to celebrate.
AVC was led by Daniel DeGeorge, who shot a 77. "I'm happy to see my game improve from my previous tournaments, but there is still work to be done and lower scores to be had for me," said DeGeorge. The 77 was good enough for a top-10 individual finish for the sophomore. "Danny is one of the hardest working players that you will see at this level, and it was good to see that his work ethic behind the scenes is starting to pay off," head coach Brad Hazard noted.
Tanner Klundt was even through 9 but struggled with his wedge play on the back finishing at 80. Anthony Minner shot 85, Luke Carnegie 86, and Drew Degeorge finished at 88.
Next up for the Marauders is a tournament at San Dimas Golf Course on March 27.
