Men's Golf competed in WSC's Conference Finals, which consisted of two rounds and 10 hours of continuous gold at Alisal River Golf Course.
AVC was led by Derrick Rossmango, who shot a 73 in round 1 and a 76 in round 2, followed by Andrew Sweitzer's round one 79 and round two 77 scores. Rossmango had 8 birdies on the day, highlighted by a chip-in on the par 3, 9th hole. With his scores at the conference finals, Derrick has qualified to play in the So Cal Regionals on May 10 at Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura. "I've played some good, persevering Golf, and I definitely feel like I've earned the spot. I finished the season fantastically, posting some of the best tournament rounds of my life, and I can't wait to represent AVC at regionals in a couple of weeks," commented Rossmango.
"Derrick deserves this opportunity, and we're excited to have him represent the college and our program. He displayed mental and physical toughness along with outstanding Golf on a grueling day," added head coach Brad Hazard.
Hazard was pleased with the individual improvement over the season and finishing with their best team score of the season. "Andrew has been battling injuries all season... happy to see him finish his freshman season on a positive note, demonstrating that he can compete with the top players in this conference," he mentioned.
