AVC Men's Basketball evened up the season series 1-1 against Cerro Coso, with an 83-70 win at home on Saturday.

AVC Men's Basketball evened up the season series 1-1 against Cerro Coso, with an 83-70 win at home on Saturday. After losing to the Coyotes 81-62 in their season opener on Friday, the Marauders were able to get their offense on track and outpace Cerro Coso.
Joshua Assiff had 13 first-half points to help the Marauders lead 51-29 at the halfway mark. Elijah McCoy scored 12 of his 16 points in the second half to keep the Marauders in front. McCoy led AVC in scoring and also had a game-high 13 rebounds along with 2 blocks.
Sophomore Mekhi Smith had 14 points while Stephen Perry scored 12 points. The Marauders had six players score in double digits as Johnathan Mitchell and Omari Mathis each scored 10 points. Jacob Mani led AVC in assists with 4.
The Marauders shot 46.7% from the field and 39.3% from behind the 3-point line while holding the Coyotes to 34.8% shooting and 25.0% from behind the arc.
AVC will play Cerro Coso two more times to close out the season in April. Meanwhile, the Marauders (1-1) will play College of the Sequoias (2-0) on the road on March 12th and again on March 13th at home.
