VALENCIA - IT's a good thing the Marauder men's basketball team has a short memory.
Following a devastating loss at the hands of Fullerton College in the championship game of the 65th annual Gregg Anderson Tournament, AVC responded its first time back on the court with an easy 88-66 victory against former intra-conference rival College of the Canyons, Friday night at COC.
Cory Dollarhide, who probably had his worst three-game stretch at Marauder Gymnasium, responded to lead the Marauders with 23 points, including doing what he does best, knock down 3-pointers.
Dollarhide was 5-of-8 from behind the arc and he also grabbed six rebounds. AVC (6-5) hit 13 3-pointers, including four from Christian Solis and two from Reggie Byers.
"I just took my time and didn't rush anything. I just gave what the defense gave me. My teammates have confidence in me so that gave me confidence. I think we expected to win that game. Any win is a great win and it gives us momentum," Dollarhide said. "We always want to get better. Overall we played well and played unselfish. We moved the ball and we had a season-high in assists. I think we can build on this victory. I think we had one of our best games in terms of moving the ball so that helped a lot."
Jesse Burns had his best game of the season as he finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. Charles Hall finished with a season-high 12 assists, as AVC finished with a season-high 22 on the night.
COC (4-8) led early in the game, but after Burns made a free throw to tie the score, 12-12, the Marauders took the lead following a 3-pointer by Solis with 13:01 remaining in the first half and they never trailed again.
