WARREN AND WASHINGTON HAVE SEASON HIGHS IN LOSS TO SANTA BARBARA

Marauder Football lost a key matchup against the first-place Santa Barbara Vaqueros at home on Saturday. The 39-25 conference loss leaves AVC in third place in the American Pacific Conference at 2-1 and 4-4 overall.
The Marauder defense provided an early spark after a key stop that produced a turnover on downs on Santa Barbara's first drive. Daryus Warren took advantage with an 11-play, 79-yard drive resulting in a 14-yard touchdown pass to Shamir Washington. The Vaqueros responded with two touchdowns to take a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Santa Barbara scored two more touchdowns to open the second quarter, but the Marauders would respond. It was Daryus Warren connecting with Shamir Washington again, this time for a 56-yard touchdown pass. Washington finished with a season-best 121 yards and 2 touchdowns. Warren then made it 19-24 with a 51-yard touchdown toss to Reece Robinson. He finished with 256 yards passing and 4 touchdowns, both season-highs for the quarterback.
Amir Bankhead gave Antelope Valley their second lead of the game in the third quarter with a 69-yard touchdown run. Bankhead finished with 110 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. He also added 3 catches for 29 yards. He has four 100-yard games on the season and leads the Marauders with 10 touchdowns. Santa Barbara scored a touchdown off a punt return to take a 35-25 lead at the end of the period. They then scored a touchdown in the final period to seal a 39-25 win.
AVC was led defensively by Caden Hinton with 10 tackles. Gannon Ginnis and Jalen Williams had 8 tackles each. RB Wilson V and Ethan John each had a tackle for a loss, while Dazhon Sanders recorded his third interception of the season.
The Marauders will finish their regular season schedule on the road at LA Pierce on 11/5 and then Moorpark on 11/12.
