LANCASTER - The Marauder football team ran into a buzzsaw Saturday night against visiting LA Valley College and had it winning streak snapped at three games after suffering a 38-13 loss at Marauder Stadium.
The Monarchs, ranked No. 15 in the state and for good reason, was able to dominate the game from start to finish.
"Overall I'm proud of my guys for continuing to fight and create turnovers," AVC's Anthony Beko said. "But we just got beat. LA Valley is a great team and I give them a lot of credit for a well played game. Now it's just time to move forward and finish our season strong and for each other."
The Marauders (5-3, 2-1) dropped to second place in conference behind the Monarchs, which are sitting pretty atop the American Pacific Conference with two games remaining. AVC's final two games are on the road against Allan Hancock next Saturday and the follwoing week against LA Pierce.
Nothing is set in stone, but the Marauders still have a golden opportunity to finish the season with a 7-3 overall record and a bowl game.
AVC got down 21-0 in the first half and was not able to recover from that deficit. The Marauders first touchdown came late in the second half when quarterback Blake Shepherd connected with Donte Ross from 19 yards out and AVC only trailed 21-7 at halftime.
