The Marauders fell at home in game 1 and on the road for game 2 but rebounded to claim the final game of the series at home. A big offensive game from Cody Turner helped AVC complete the win. Turner started things off with an RBI single in the 1st inning. Bakersfield responded with runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings to take a 2-1 lead. AVC went back on top 5-2 in the 5th courtesy of an RBI single from Trey Thomas and a 3-run homer from Turner, his first of two on the day. His second came in the 7th inning, bringing in two more RBI. The 6'2 freshman from Pete Knight High School continues to lead the Marauders in home runs with 9, and the Western State Conference South in RBI at 65, as well as batting average at .489.
After Mitchell Thoma-Britt scored on a passed ball in the 8th, AVC was up 8-2 heading into the top of the 9th. Down to their last three outs, the Renegades rallied to score 8 runs and take a 10-8 lead.
The Marauders were now down to their last three outs. Lucas Martinez started the rally with a solo home run, his third of the season. Thoma-Britt then hit an RBI double to tie the game 10-10. The game-winning run then came when Nick Hagen scored on a Bakersfield error.
Turner started on the mound and went just over 7 innings with 10 strikeouts. Nathan Van Dooren picked up the win, while Connor Kerns pitched an inning with 1 strikeout.
Antelope Valley will start their last regular season series against LA Valley on Tuesday. They'll play one home game against the Monarchs in the series on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
