After winning game one, then losing game two, AVC Baseball outlasted LA Mission College 5-3 to take the 3-game series on Saturday.
The Marauders fell behind early as the Eagles scored a run in the 3rd inning and another one in the 5th inning. They evened it up at 2-2 when William Joseph scored, and Joe Uribe hit an RBI groundout in the 6th inning. LA Mission took a 1-point lead off a double in the 7th. But AVC put together a 3-run rally in the bottom of the inning to go ahead and stay ahead. Nate Scott drew a walk with the bases loaded to score Josh Nuno. Nathan Duarte then hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Ariv Camacho. Mason Johnson added another run with an RBI groundout to bring home William Joseph.
Antelope Valley totaled 11 hits with no errors in the win. Duarte and Nuno recorded 2 hits each, while Joseph finished 3-for-3. Zach Terry, Ariv Camacho, Nate Scott, and Omar Santamaria logged hits, while Scott, Duarte, Joe Uribe, and Mason Johnson finished with 1 RBI apiece.
Starting pitcher Ethan Wendell went 5 innings with a strikeout. Sam Maudsley threw 2.5 innings, and Matt Toledo closed the game out with one strikeout in an inning of relief.
Now 19-16 overall and 8-10 in conference, AVC starts their last regular-season series at home on 4/26 against Glendale College.
