Marauder Baseball lost 11-9 in a 10-inning battle against the West LA Wildcats at home. Things looked promising early as the Marauders jumped out 2-0 in the first inning, courtesy of a 2-RBI home run from Ariv Camacho. The Wildcats returned the favor in the second inning with a 2-RBI home run of their own.
AVC put together a 5-run inning in the 2nd to go up 7-2. Colin Hagen started the rally when he reached base on a fielder's choice that scored Nathan Duarte. The bats then came alive for Antelope Valley as Zach Terry, Ariv Camacho, and William Joseph each hit RBI singles. Nate Scott put the Marauders up 7-2 with an RBI triple to score Joseph.
After surrendering 2 runs in the 3rd, AVC tried to keep some separation when Josh Nuno scored before Nate Scott hit into a double-play to end the inning. Up 8-4 heading into the top of the 6th, AVC gave up 5 runs off 4 hits, including a 2-RBI home run.
Down by a run in the bottom of the 9th, Nathan Duarte started the inning off with a double in the gap. He advanced to third on a sacrifice groundout. Zach Terry then sent the game into extra innings with an RBI fielder's choice to score Duarte. Unfortunately, the Marauders couldn't match the 2 runs scored by the Wildcats in the 10th inning.
In the loss, pitcher Ethan Wendell managed 4 strikeouts but gave up 5 earned runs. Marshal Saul struck out 2 of 6 batters faced in one inning of work. AVC falls to an 8-10 record overall and 0-4 in conference play. They travel to West LA on 3/17 and complete the 3-game series against the Wildcats at home on 3/18.
