AVC Baseball outlasted the Victor Valley Rams 14-13 in an extra-inning shootout at home. The offense started early for the Marauders when William Joseph put them up 1-0 with a home run in the 1st inning. The following two innings would belong to the Rams as they scored 2 runs in the 2nd and rallied to score 4 runs in the 3rd inning. Down 6-1 in the bottom of the 3rd, AVC added another run to stay within striking distance. It was Joseph again with an RBI-double to score Josh Nuno.
Victor Valley then scored off a double and a passed ball in the 4th inning to take an 8-2 lead. But AVC struck back with a 3-RBI double from Nuno and an RBI on a groundout from Ariv Camacho in the bottom of the inning. Mason Johnson brought the Marauders within a run at 8-7 with a sacrifice fly in the 5th.
The Rams kept the pressure on scoring 2 runs in the 6th. AVC came right back in the 6th and 7th innings with an unearned run and an RBI when Nate Scott was hit by a pitch to score Nuno. Down by two heading into the bottom of the 8th, the Marauders tied it at 11-11 when Mason Johnson hit a 2-RBI double, scoring Omar Santamaria and Dom Antinetti. The game remained even through the end of regulation.
Victor Valley took advantage of a wild pitch and a double to score 2 runs in the 10th. In the bottom of the 10th, Mason Johnson singled and advanced to 3rd on a Josh Nuno base hit. Down to their last out, Ariv Camacho walked, and Johnson scored on a wild pitch. With Camacho and Nuno on base, William Joseph hit a walk-off double to give AVC the 14-13 win. Joseph finished 3-for-5 with 4 RBI. Nuno had 3 RBI off 4 hits and scored four times. Mason Johnson and Dom Antinetti both went 2-for-4 while Johnson had 2 RBI. Ariv Camacho also had 2 RBI on the day.
