Marauder Baseball has won four of their last five games, including a 7-2 home win over Taft College on Thursday.
After a scoreless first three innings, AVC got on the board with a Nate Scott sacrifice fly to score Ariv Camacho. The Cougars tied it up at 1-1 with a run in the top of the 5th inning. The Marauders would answer in the bottom of the inning when Camacho hit an RBI single, scoring Omar Santamaria. A Taft error gave AVC a 3-1 lead going into the 6th inning. The Cougars pulled within a run in the 6th, but that's as close as they would get.
AVC put together a 4-run inning in the 8th to seal the win. Zach Terry and Josh Nuno hit RBI singles, Nate Scott hit a sacrifice fly, and the Marauders score another run on a balk. Scott finished 2-for-3 with 2-RBI. Both Josh Nuno and Ariv Camacho went 2-for-5 with an RBI, while William Joseph and Zach Terry had a hit and an RBI each. Dom Antinetti had 3 hits in 4 at-bats.
The Marauders totaled 13 hits to Taft's six and one error to the Cougars' two. Starter Sam Maudsley and Marshal Saul combined for 7 strikeouts in just over 5 innings pitched.
The 6-4 Marauders will travel to College of the Desert before returning home to face Victor Valley on February 22.
