Several members of the Antelope Valley Men's and Women's Track teams collected seasonal bests at the Vaquero Classic Invitational, hosted by Glendale College. Two first and second-place finishes highlighted the Marauder performances. The women's 4x100 relay (Sara Morales, Ray Simon, Celeste Meza, Prishencia Nnoham) started things off for the Marauders with a 3rd-place finish and the #2 performance in the Western State Conference this season. The men's relay team (Langston Jackson, Jorge Dela O Santillon, Mak Ene, TJ Graham) placed second on the day, also recording their top mark of the season.
Prishencia Nnoham returned later that afternoon and placed 2nd in the 200 meters. Her time was her best of the year and ranks her top 4 in the Western State Conference. Not to be outdone, the Marauder male sprinters scored a twin bill as TJ Grahan and Jorge Dela O Santillon both won their 200-meter heats, each running a lifetime best.
Other performances of note included Kaelin Smith taking over the team lead in the triple jump, placing third overall, while Jordan Kennon's tie for 4th in the same event improved his seasonal best by over a foot.
The Marauders get a week off to train in preparation for the Western State Conference Prelims and Finals held at AVC on April 21st and Moorpark on April 28th. Field events at AVC begin at noon, while the first running event is scheduled for 1 pm.
