Marauder women's golfer Madison Schafer completed her season with a Top 20 finish at the California Community College Athletic Association Women's Golf State Championships.
Marauder women's golfer Madison Schafer completed her season with a Top 20 finish at the California Community College Athletic Association Women's Golf State Championships. The Championship round was played at Morro Bay Golf Course and included a field of the state's top 56 community college women's golfers.
Madison shot an 89 on day one and improved with an 82 on day two for a 171 total. Her 82 on the second round was a top-12 score on the day. She credits her improved score on day two to tremendous preparation that included analyzing each hole's approach from day one. "Madison stuck to the game plan and managed her game very well in the state tournament." said head coach Patrick Londono. The course was the most difficult one coach Londono has seen in his four years with the Marauders.
Schafer looks forward to getting better and would like to continue her collegiate golf career at the next level.
"I'm proud of Madison's hard work to qualify and finish in the top 20 at the state tournament. She accomplished great things at AVC, and we look forward to her next chapter," added Londono.
