SOFTBALL LOSES A CLOSE ONE TO VAQUEROS

AVC Softball lost a conference battle 5-4 to the Glendale Vaqueros on Tuesday. After falling behind 2-0 in the 3rd inning, AVC scored a run in the 4th inning but surrendered another 2 runs in the 5th. The Marauders bounced back with a 3-run effort in the bottom of the inning. Emily Centeno hit her first home run of the season to make it 4-2. Kylie Zinn then drew a walk for an RBI, and Natasha Arroyo recorded a fielder's choice RBI to tie it at 4-4.
The Vaqueros stole home on a botched play in the 6th inning to take a 1-run lead. Antelope Valley couldn't get any runners on base in their final six at-bats. Cadence Crampton went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Natalia Hernandez and Jolene Miramontes also recorded hits. Starter Annalise Wagner (6) and Helena Loera (3) combined for 9 strikeouts in the circle, while the Marauders committed 2 errors in the field.
AVC is on the road on Thursday against LA Valley before returning home to face Bakersfield on Tuesday, March 19, at 2:30 p.m.
