The Marauders jumped out to the early lead off a solo home run from Natasha Arroyo in the first inning. An inning later, Jayda Williams hit an RBI single to give them a 2-0 lead. Things broke open for AVC in the third inning as they appeared to have the game in hand after adding another 6 runs. Kylie Zinn singled to center field to score Savannah Cervantes, followed by an RBI single from Marissa Rodriguez to bring in Alanna Hernandez. After the Renegades walked in a run, Victoria Alcantar crushed a 2-RBI single. Alcantar finished 3-for-4 on the day 2 RBI. An error gave AVC an 8-0 lead heading into the top of the fourth inning.
Bakersfield came storming back in the fourth and fifth innings to pull within a run at 8-7. AVC answered in the bottom of the fifth when Savannah Cervantes hit her team-high seventh home run of the season, a 2-RBI blast to give AVC a 10-7 lead. Needing one final out to end the game in the top of the seventh, the Marauders committed two errors and then yielded a 3-RBI homer that tied the game 10-10.
In the bottom of the inning, Natasha Arroyo came to the rescue with her second home run of the day. She hammered a pitch to right-center field for the walk-off win. Arroyo finished 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and has 6 home runs and 14 RBI on the season off 27 hits.
Victoria Alcantar and Emmeliz Sera combined for 6 strikeouts in the circle.
After losing to Mt. San Antonio on Wednesday, the Marauders have still won seven of their last nine contests. They have a conference game on the road at Glendale before returning home for a doubleheader against LA Mission on Thursday, April 13, at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.
