AVC Men's Golf took part in the Western State Conference Finals at Knollwood Country Club.
In the first round, AVC topped host college Glendale and Allan Hancock. Going into the second round, they were 5 shots from Citrus and 8 shots behind Ventura with a chance of taking the 4th team spot for regionals.
Michael Recinos shot a career-best 77 to lead the Marauders in the first round. His previous best was 89. Tanner Klundt, who had a season average of 75.89, was 5 shots over the course of the season away from qualifying for his second straight season.
"We knew he was close and that he had to execute on the course today, but he just couldn't get it done. This year's league had the most talented group of players I have seen over my years of coaching, and unfortunately, Tanner came up a few short of moving on." said head coach Brad Hazard. "I'm proud of the guys. We gave it a good run, but unfortunately, we couldn't post the score needed in our second round.
Our team fought hard throughout the season, showing great effort and determination. Unfortunately, our struggle with consistency kept us from advancing as a team today." he added.
Player scores:
