SANTA CLARITA - As of late the Marauder men's basketball team has been on a roll, playing like it did early in the season.
Just recently the Marauders defeated first place Bakersfield College and followed that up with an impressive victory against Santa Monica College. It didn't stop Saturday night as AVC handled its business hoping to get ready for the playoffs with an easy 86-68 victory over College of the Canyons.
The Marauders have won five of their last six games with a hiccup loss to LA Valley College sandwiched in between. AVC finished the regular season with a 23-6 record and 9-5 in the Western States Conference-South Division standings, all alone in second place behind Bakersfield.
Cory Dollarhide led the Marauders with 18 points off the bench. The sharpshooter has been a real spark for the Marauders this season averaging more than 10 points per game.
AVC had five players score in double figures against the Cougars, including Izayah Doyle, who finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds. What's interesting about that is Doyle was the last to collect 10 or more rebounds by any Marauder player since Doyle did it himself against El Camino College on Nov. 13.
The Marauders maintained their lead throughout the first half and led 32-23 with 6:39 remaining. They extended their lead to 40-23 following an 8-0 run to take complete control of the game. AVC led 46-29 at halftime.
