Marauder Baseball extended their season-opening win streak to 4 with a 20-11 shootout against the Ventura Pirates at home on Saturday.
AVC jumped out to an early lead, scoring 3 runs in the first inning, and they never looked back. Keon Moseni, Cody Turner, and Joel Calderin Serrano all hit home runs in the slugfest. Aidan Jbara continued to impress at the plate, going 5-for-6 with 4 RBI. The sophomore first baseman leads the Marauders on the season in hits with 13 and RBI with 12. Moseni finished 3-for-5 with 1 RBI.
Cody Turner finished with 4 RBI on 2 hits, while catcher Chisum Demmers and shortstop Joel Calderin Serrano both recorded 2 RBI. Xavier Cantu also had 2 RBI with a hit.
The Marauders totaled 21 hits on the day with no errors. Nine pitchers saw action, with starter Trey Thomas getting the win with 3 Ks. Ryan Othen and Derek Ames struck out two each in relief.
Antelope Valley has scored 74 runs in their first four games. Tuesday's game at Ventura has been postponed due to inclement weather. AVC has a three-game series at Gavilan College in Gilroy, followed by stops at LA Pierce and San Bernardino Valley. Their next home game is against Victor Valley on Saturday, Feb. 17th.
