AVC Baseball won their fourth straight game with a 26-4 victory over the Victor Valley Rams on Monday. The contest, originally scheduled for last Thursday, was rescheduled due to inclement weather. Conditions were still wet and cold, but the action got underway after a 30-minute weather delay.
After a scoreless first inning, the Marauder bats warmed up to score a run in the second, 3 in the third, and 3 in the
fourth. Starter Ben Hewitt's 5 strikeouts helped keep the Rams scoreless for just over four innings, but the defense surrendered 4 runs in the fifth.
Antelope Valley responded with 7 runs in the bottom of the fifth and another huge 12-run inning in the sixth. AVC totaled 26 runs off 22 hits and no errors. Trey Thomas (DH) led the Marauders with 6 RBI off two hits, while Keeton Bell went 4-for-6 with 4 RBI, and Aidan Jbara went 4-for-4 with 2 RBI. Thomas leads AVC on the season in hits (21) and RBI (17).
Jack Rogers, Keon Moseni, Zach Terry, Nick Hagen, and Jack Taylor all filled up that stat column with two hits each. Terry had 3 RBI, while Taylor and Moseni each batted in 2 runs. Bell, Thomas, and Terry each had a stolen base, while Willem Heilker and Colin Cortez combined for 3 strikeouts in two innings of relief.
The Marauders improved to 6-7 on the season and will complete the series against the Rams at home on Thursday, 3/2, at 2:00 pm.
