AVC women's volleyball got a big win against Santa Barbara as they swept the Vaqueros 25-16, 25-16, 26-24. The Marauders came into the Wednesday's battle a little worn having played four matches last week. But with AVC's crowd behind them, they found a way to keep the energy up and get the nonconference win.
The Marauders cruised through the first two sets, but the third set proved to be a challenge as Santa Barbara gained momentum. With six set points, the Vaqueros had plenty of chances to take the third set, but couldn't finish. AVC took advantage and narrowly won the third and final set 26-24.
AVC's outside hitter Taylor Mobley led all players with 11 kills, followed by Tara Volack who had nine. Mobley and Valerie Vergara each had 13 digs each. Estrella Bradford led with 21 assists.
The Marauders improved to 3-5 on the season and will play at Cuesta before returning home to take on West LA College on Wednesday the 25th at 6:00 pm.
