HUNTINGTON BEACH - There is light at the end of the tunnel for the Marauder women's volleyball team.
The Marauders have had an unthinkable schedule in their first five games of the season. They have played four teams in the top 25 in the state, including No. 3 Santa Barbara City College and No. 6 Mira Costa College.
On Wednesday night, AVC dropped its fifth match in a row as it was swept by Golden West College, 25-14, 25-17, 25-16. Golden West is ranked No. 21 in the state.
The Marauders were led by Tiffany Matchett who finished with 10 kills. Teammate Madison Waring finished with 16 assists.
AVC head coach Mark Cruz knew that his team might suffer some wounds but wanted them battle tested when conference play began. When conference play begins the schedule should ease a bit for the Marauders.
