The Antelope Valley track team capped off their season traveling to Mount San Antonio College for the CCCAA State Championships. The Marauders were represented by five women competing in four events, and the results were encouraging for the future.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team of Sara Morales, Kayla Thompson, Briann Brazill, and Prishencia Nnoham came in as the 5th best team in the state and finished in that position. The foursome ended the season as the second-fastest relay team in school history. On the heels of the relay success, Kayla Thompson would place second while her running mate Prishencia Nnoham grabbed 5th in the women's 400 meters, collecting personal bests.
Briann Brazill lined up in the women's 100 meters and placed 4th overall with the second-fastest 100 meters time in school history. Celeste Meza, Thompson, Brazill, and Nnoham would finish the day finishing 6th in the 4x400 meter relay. This unit also clocked a time ranked top 10 all-time.
Altogether, the Marauder women scored 24 points, which was good enough to place 11th out of 41 competing teams. "We finished the season the way you're supposed to by hitting your best efforts on the final day," commented Track & Field head coach Tony Veney. "Our three individual event medalists all ran career bests which bodes well for next season," he added. The Men's and Women's teams concluded the season, collecting 26 All-Western State Conference, 13 All-SoCal, and 11 All-State awards.
