DUNCAN, MARTINEZ, VENTURA QUALIFY FOR CONFERENCE FINALS
BAKERSFIELD - Jasmane Duncan, Jailene Martinez and Destiny Ventura each qualified for next week's conference finals at Moorpark College.
The prelims were held at Bakersfield College on Saturday, while all the field events and the 10000 meter run were finals.
Duncan, who has been dominant in the 400, qualified as the third seed with an overall time of 58.75, behind West LA College's Alexis Henry (56.92) and Moorpark College's London McNair (58.49). Martinez was the final qualifier for the event with a personal best time of 1:04.77.
Ventura was the final qualifier for the 400 hurdles as she finished ninth with an overall time of 1:09.29, just edging out Moorparks' Julia Pham, who crossed the line in 1:09.40. Santa Monica College's Amanda Yager had the best time of the day (1:05.52) just ahead of College of the Canyons Ariana Cooper (1:05.63).
Carolina Gonzalez finished 11th in the 10000 final with a time of 42:11.65. Robyn Webb was eighth in both the shot put and discus final with tosses of 32-07.00 and 95-10 respectively.
