WOMEN'S TENNIS TOPS SANTA MONICA 5-4
AVC defeated Santa Monica 5-4. The match was rescheduled from February 28th. Mary Flint- Herrea was down 4-2 in the second set after winning the first 7-5. She then won four straight to take the set and the match. Natalie Pinzon also won her first singles match of the year 6-4, 6-2.
With the match tied 4-4, Erica Garcia and Becca Jaimes were down 6-2 and fought back to take the lead 8-7. Santa Monica won the next game to tie 8-8. The match was then postponed due to darkness. When AVC traveled to Santa Monica on March 5th, the tiebreak resumed, and Garcia and Jaimes prevailed 7-2. "We have been improving and are pleased we could put it all together for the win." said Head Coach Justin Webb. Webb also noted, "We showed great effort and fought back from adversity which we have
talked about all year."
