TWO MARAUDERS QUALIFY FOR STATE FINALS

AVC Women's Golf participated in the Southern California Regionals at Simi Hills golf course. Water was in play on 9 holes, and OB was in play on 6, making it a great venue for the best community college golfers in the southern California region, with a field of 60 + total participants.

Taylor Waters shot a career-best 79 in the first round and followed it up just one shot off her career-best in round 2 with an 80. Taylor's previous career-low score was 83 at the Conference Finals.

Terry Muller shot a career-best 78 in round one and another career-best 75 in round 2. Terry's previous career best was an 81 at San Dimas Golf Course.

Sarah Baltimore shot a 100 in round one, just two strokes off her previous career-best, and a 94 for a career-best in round two. Her career-best was improved by 4 shots. Sarah's previous career lowest of 98 was at the Conference Finals.

Taylor and Terry's performances were good enough to qualify for the CCCAA State Finals. Taylor made the cut by 8 shots, while Terry made the cut by 14 shots.

The results mark the third consecutive season AVC has qualified for the State Finals. In 2021, after winning a western state conference team championship, going undefeated, and qualifying for the state finals as a team, Arlene Salvador won the individual state title, setting the 25-year scoring record. In 2022, Madison Schafer qualified for state as an individual and finished inside the top 20, shooting a day 2 score which was top 10 for the day.

"I'm beyond proud of the preparation and effort displayed in this tournament by Terry, Taylor and Sarah shooting personal best rounds," said head coach Patrick Londono. "We had a very productive practice round, came up with a great game plan on how to play this golf course, and our commitment to every shot never wavered in this tournament."

The State Championships will be held November 13-14 at Hunter Ranch Golf Course in Paso Robles.
