After competing in the 2-day Western State Conference Finals in Bakersfield, AVC had three golfers qualify for the Southern California Regionals. Taylor Waters, Terry Muller, and Sarah Baltimore will be headed to the event in Simi Valley, held on November 5th.
The Rio Bravo Country Club's 5700-yard course was one of the longest and most sloped courses of our season. On day one, Taylor Waters shot 83, which was the low score of her season, and was good for 4th overall in a field of 35 players. She then shot 85 on the second day, which was good enough to tie for 6th place. "I'm extremely proud of how Taylor played, shooting her season low on a challenging golf course... she was the best on the greens she has been all season, and that is a testament to her hard work." remarked head coach Patrick Londono.
Terry Muller shot an 85 on day one for a 7th-place overall individual finish. She followed up with a 9th-place 89 score on day two. Sarah Baltimore recorded a season and career-best 99 on day one, as well as a 98 on day two. Onalee Garusinghe also shot a season and career-best in both the first round (128) and second round (125).
As a team, the Marauders achieved a day one 5th-place season-low score of 395 and a day two 397 (2nd-lowest team score of the season). "This team continues to work hard and get better regardless of their golf background and prior experience... I'm equally proud of all of their efforts and look forward to their continued progress," said Londono.
